From one of the most innovative fly designers we know.
It's always a challenge to find a realistic small baitfish pattern that imitates both the profile and action of the real thing. Stripers, albies, small tuna, lagoon tarpon and roosterfish become really picky when keyed in on smaller baits available in large numbers. The Hoo Fly was designed to solve that puzzle by imitating the swimming action, profile and translucence of smaller baitfish. It uses newer materials only recently introduced to the fly-tying market to create an exceptionally convincing, hatch-matching minnow pattern. Originally born in Montauk to match the prodigious migration of bay anchovies, the Hoo Fly has application to virtually every saltwater and even freshwater location, and also doubles as a general baitfish pattern to use when you are not sure what the fish are targeting.
