The modern two handed rod has evolved into a much more versatile fishing tool than th4e Scots of long ago had in mind when they fashioned rods made of Greenheart wood of up to 20 feet long. Today the two handed rod is not only used in the tradition of spey casting for Atlantic salmon, there are several very specific applications as well. Skagit casting has proven to be a very effective method for taking steelhead; there are lighter, shorter two handed rods for pursuing trout and overhead applications such as on jetties or in the surf to launch flies at a variety of saltwater species.
Our Professional Series two handed rods are medium fast action rods available from an 11’5 wt to a 15’ 10 wt. We have added two Scandinavian style rods, a 13’9” 9/10 wt and a 14’9” 10/11 wt plus a 13’3” 8 wt rod specifically designed for Skagit style fishing. Our 12’ 12 wt (AFFTA rated) TiCr is a fast action rod designed for overhead line launching.
